I just had an unexpected chat with the homeowner who lives beside the canyon trail entrance stairs I built for my Eagle Scout project 15 years ago. He still remembered from back then, including that I was studying mechanical engineering at UCSD. I explained how I've actually moved to software now and am looking for a new job.

He came by to ask if he could take some of the dirt piled near the sidewalk by our house. We are currently leveling out that section of sidewalk and I told him most of it is going back into the ground when it is done. He was asking because the city had recently done some additional work near the stairs, leaving part of the bike path by the stairs full of large rocks and he wants to smooth it over with dirt to make it more useable. I told him I'd be happy to help in the near future.

It was nice to reconnect and have the opportunity for ongoing stewardship. He appreciated my work and expressed confidence in my job search.
